Music Ministries
Please contact our minister of music, Matthew Wary (mwary@goodshepherdboyertown.org) for more information on any of these groups.
Senior Choir: This is the most active singing ensemble, participating weekly in one service between September and early June. This group covers a wide variety of repertoire, from classics to contemporary, plus exploration of hymns in the New Century Hymnal. Rehearsals are a casual atmosphere of individuals singing praise to the Lord. Musical ability is not required, but greatly appreciated. We rehearse Wednesdays at 7:00pm except when preceded by Cantata Choir or Lenten services. Grade 9 and older are welcome in Senior Choir.
Cantata Choir: This group for high school and up usually sings a Christmas cantata, with rehearsals beginning in October on Wednesday evenings. It also sings for our annual Music Sunday in the spring. Rehearsals for Music Sunday are after Easter on Wednesday evenings.
Praise Group: This is our newest musical group, open to all ages. We lead singing monthly in the Family Service at 10:20am and also introduce some popular praise songs. This is a great group for those who have very little time to commit, but still enjoy singing. We rehearse each day we are singing at 10am. We sing everything in unison; it can’t get any simpler!
Cherub Choir: Children age 3 through grade 2 participate in this group, which sings monthly in the 10:20 service. Cherub Choir practices on Sundays at 10:00 and is directed by Kathy Boyer.
Junior Choir: This group for grades 3-6 sings about once a month at the 10:20 service. We learn music in a variety of styles. Junior Choir practices on Sundays at 8:45am.
Handbell Choir: This ensemble for grade 7 thru adults is being revived on Mondays at 7pm. No previous ringing experience is necessary, and parts can be tailored to each player's abilities.
Special Music: Vocalists and instrumentalists are always welcome to provide music in our worship services, especially during the summer when the choirs are on hiatus.
