Renew Revive Rejoice
"Since you are eager for manifestations of the spirit, strive to excel in building up the church" 1st Corinthians 14:12
Almost 195 years ago, God planted a church before Boyertown even got its name. Over all these years, our community has served generations in Jesus' name. We were here for the many family milestones---births, baptisms, and marriages. We were here through personal crises and have worshiped with and supported one another throughout every major American historical event, almost going back to the founding of our nation.
We are here today as Christians in this church because we are heirs of the very faithful and courageous generations before us. Their visions for the future of Good Shepherd led them to build a beautiful sanctuary, make room for young people and children to worship and learn, and to engage in innumerable acts of compassion and charity that made this community a strong one. They "entered to worship" and "departed to serve" as the signs at our original entrance declare.
Now it is our time. Faced with different challenges, but no more difficult than our forebears, we are being called to face our future. What we choose to do now will bear fruit for many years to come. We have an opportunity to plant seeds for future growth by growing our staff and restoring our building to make way for the future generations of families. Through our "Renew, Revive, Rejoice" vision, we will act together on our belief that God is calling us to do more great things as a church.
Please know that I am very grateful and glad to be your pastor. I surely get to see and hear about all the ways the people of our church make a difference in this building and in their daily lives. I know what being part of God's church has done for my life as you know how it has enriched yours. Now is our chance to give our Lord something back, so that future generations will have the chance to learn about Jesus and follow the excellent way he has shown us.
Let's believe in our future together; let's believe that God has more to say through our church.
In Christian love,
Pastor Dennis
